Watch out for and DO NOT TOUCH!

Here is an example of some spring giant hog weed that’s growing in the ditches of a country road if you see it DO NOT TOUCH!

It contains a photo toxic sap that reacts with the uv rays of the sun and can cause phytophotodematitis.

After contact you will get an itchy rash in the area, then in just under 48 hours it will blister eventually leaving scars. The stem a green redish purple colour with hairs going up it. If the sap gets into your eyes it can cause blindness.

A young shoot note the hairy stem

This is a dead one I am 6ft 3 but they can grow up to 17ft tall and the white umbrella plant head can grow up to 31 inches wide.

Thanks for reading hopefully this will help you be vigilant for this plant for both yours and your pets sake.
